Blood of Arachne
2012
Project Details
Blood of Arachne
Live Performance documentation, 2012.
Naomi Oliver takes on the mythical persona of Arachne, weaving her web around John A Douglas, encased in a red body suit. Her hapless victim, he is trapped by the enmeshed form of her threads. The work is a metaphor for the kidney disease that Douglas has lived with since 2004 and explores themes around suffering and entrapment, body degeneration, illness and death.
Blood of Arachne was curated for the 2012 FreeFall live art program at Oxford Art Factory.
